The Birthplace of Country Music showcases Bristol, Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia’s role in the birth and development of country music through the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, Radio Bristol, and a multitude of community and educational outreach programs.
The Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion is an annual music festival that takes place in downtown Bristol VA/TN on the third weekend in September of each year. The Festival is put on by the Birthplace of Country Music, Inc. in conjunction with volunteer committees, hundreds of individual volunteers, numerous community organizations and various departments of the two cities. The Festival hosts a diversity of performers in recognition of the fact that the Bristol Sessions influenced many genres of music in America, but there is always be a strong element of roots music considered to be derived directly from the 1927 Bristol Sessions. Artists will include local and regional acts as well as nationally known stars and stars of the future.
